through the black forest - exploring kinzigtal - farm stay in schiltach

Leaving Gengenbach and the area behind we drove to our next destination in Black Forest - Schiltach. As I have mentioned here I wasn't going only for countryside and beautiful views, but for little cute villages with charachter and history as well.

In Schiltach we got both. Although touristy this village has some of the cutest timber houses in the area. Steep streets, surrounded by green hills and a wonderful location between two rivers (they are tiny though) of Schiltach and Kinzig treats you with postcard views at every corner.

We chose to stay at a farm next to Schiltach and it was the best desicsion ever (thakn you Black Forest Tourism for organising our stay)!

Have you ever stayed at a farm? As a kid I used to spend my summers in russian countryside with my grandparents and the stay in Schiltach brought back good memories.

Our little one was happy to be surrounded by animals and couldn't believe she could pick apples directly from a tree.

Run by a very friendly and hospital family Schwenkenhof rents out rooms for those who want to experience staying at a farm. It is a bit remotely located, so you would need a car to get there. For that you get starry sky without any city light distortion and deers infront of your bathroom window in the morning. From the animal inhabitants you have cows, bunnies and goats - in summer they are based outside grassing on the juicy fields in the area.

In the evenings (except Mondays and Tuesdays) the area infront of the house gets very busy - the family also runs a snack place serving guests with home-made food and simple drinks (Strammer Max and Most (an apple wine drink) are highly recommendable).

The house is located on one of the hiking routes, so it's also a great place to take a break and have a drink and enjoy the views over the area, in case you decide to stay somewhere else.

I hope this post was helpful. Feel free to share it and give me your feedback.
